New Features and Technology Inside the 2020 Mazda CX-9
As a midsize SUV with cargo and seating to spare, the 2020 Mazda CX-9 is a great option for any family. Plus, its refreshed design for the new year improves on its already-strong 2019 version. But what new features can be found in this year’s model? Check out what the Bob Baker Mazda staff found out below!
Improvements to Performance and Safety
When it comes to added performance, the additional changes to the 2020 Mazda CX-9 have you covered. While the 2.5L turbo engine returns to the model, it has been optimized to provide up to 320 ft.-lbs. of torque, up from 10 ft.-lbs. from last year. If you opt for an all-wheel drive model, you’ll find the Off-Road Traction Assist feature, which helps increase braking and torque in off-road conditions. Like other 2020 models, all CX-9 models also come equipped with the now-standard i-ACTIVSENSE® suite of safety technology, which includes features such as:
- Smart City Brake Support
- Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
- Lane Departure Warning System
- Lane-Keep Assist
- Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go Function
Interior Comfort in the 2020 Mazda CX-9
Not only does the 2020 Mazda CX-9 improve on the outside, but it gains interior amenities not found on previous models. One major difference is at higher trims, where Mazda has added second-row captain’s chairs. This drops the passenger load to just six but provides added comfort for passengers. Another intuitive feature at higher trims is the popular hands-free liftgate, found at the Grand Touring and Signature trim levels. Also, the same trims receive extra USB ports in the third row, allowing passengers to stay connected wherever they sit.
