Tips to Keep Your Vehicle Germ-Free

Tips for Keeping Your Vehicle – and Yourself – Germ-Free

With allergies and illnesses popping up in the springtime, keeping a clean atmosphere in your vehicle can go a long way in maintaining your health.  But sometimes we may not know exactly where to start or how to make it easier on ourselves in the long run.  But employees at Bob Baker Mazda compiled a few tips that should help you get started in keeping you and your car relatively germ-free.

Tip #1: Clean Those Vehicle Keys

Though you might not think about it, your vehicle’s keys are one of the most popular places for germs to gather on.  From stuffing them in your pockets to leaving them in various places and handing them to others, germs will gather.  In order to combat this, you could be more mindful of how often you have someone else handle your keys. That can be unavoidable, especially in a family setting, so you could easily wipe them down with disinfectant wipes every now and again to stay on top of it.

Tip #2: Keep Some Cleaning Supplies in your Vehicle

Another good way to keep your car clean is to have cleaning materials readily available. We all know accidents and spills can happen in an instant, so being prepared to take care of them right away makes sure that any bacteria don’t grow. This may include dashboard and console cleaning supplies or even a hand-held vacuum for dry messes. Some other items you could keep inside your vehicle are:

  • Hand Sanitizer
  • Cup Holder liners
  • Interior Vehicle Spray Cleaners
  • Crevice and Crack Cleaning Brushes
  • Washable Floor Mats
  • Small Garbage Bin

Tip #3: Service and Detail Your Car for a Deep Clean

If some interior or exterior cleaning options just aren’t getting rid of that stain or grime, you can always schedule your car for detailing or general servicing. This is especially ideal if you or your family doesn’t have access to larger vacuums or chemical supplies that get a deep clean. For more general service, both germs and any potential vehicle troubles can be addressed all at once. As an example, our Service Center offers air and cabin filter replacement in our major service menu, which can help prevent pollen or airborne pathogens from building up in vents.

At the end of the day, we at Bob Baker want to make sure you stay safe and healthy.  Using a few of these steps on top of what you may already do can go a long way in doing that.
