The largest vehicle in the Mazda lineup has consistently been the Mazda CX-9 for several years now. All CX models have been very successful over the years, but the CX-9 remains the only one to feature three rows of seating, which is huge for parents. We’re not even halfway through 2018 but it’s time we start talking about the 2019 CX-9. While we don’t have an exact release date yet, we are expecting the 2019 version to hit lots around the country sometime this summer. Keep reading to learn more.

Does the 2019 Mazda CX-9 have a diesel engine?
Frankly, this is still an unknown. It has been widely discussed in the past, and we are still hoping that 2019 will be the year we see a diesel engine option for the CX-9 and other CX models. A reason for hope is the 2018 Mazda6. The newest installment of the automaker’s largest sedan finally comes with a turbocharged engine option, so it isn’t crazy to expect the new CX-9 to also finally come with a long-awaited engine upgrade. Again, we just don’t know for sure yet.
Should I wait for the 2019 Mazda CX-9?
The 2019 Mazda CX-9 would be the first ever seven-seat, midsize crossover to offer a diesel engine option. Since much of this is still just conjecture, we don’t want to mislead you. Just know that if the CX-9 does indeed come with a high-torque diesel alternative, it will be worth the wait. Other than that, there is not much else expected to be different about the 2019 CX-9. It is mostly a carryover model from 2018, which has had glowing success. The sleek body combined with a slew of modern technologies has made the sever-seater one of the most coveted and respected crossovers in the world.
